Answers to Frequently Asked Questions

What happens at a new patient visit?

Your first visit will take about an hour and 15 minutes. After we review your new patient forms and discuss your oral healthcare concerns, you’ll receive a thorough exam, including a tooth-by-tooth check for decay, an evaluation of your soft tissues, a bite assessment, and an oral cancer screening using ViziLite. We’ll also take a full set of X-rays and intraoral photos. If your gums are healthy, the hygienist will clean your teeth. Following your exam and cleaning, the dentist will discuss his findings and make recommendations for prevention or treatment of dental issues. Call today to schedule your comprehensive new patient visit.

What's better -- over-the-counter or dentist-administered teeth whitening?

Dental bleaching administered by a dentist provides safe, consistent, and fast results. In addition, professional teeth whitening delivers more dramatic brightening than over-the-counter products. We offer in-office and take-home teeth whitening to erase the dull, dingy stains caused by food, beverages, tobacco, and the natural aging process. Call to reserve your teeth whitening appointment and tell dental stains to take a hike!

I have a cracked tooth. Does it have to be pulled?

Not necessarily. Dr. Koplin may recommend a crown to restore optimal form and comfortable function to a cracked, badly decayed, or extremely worn tooth. All-porcelain crowns look like natural teeth and preserve a smile’s all-important, all-white appearance. In as few as three office visits, Dr. Koplin beautifully renews smiles with custom crowns. We encourage you to schedule an appointment today.

Is it really that important to attend regular checkups?

Yes! At your checkup, we’ll examine your teeth for decay, evaluate jaw function, and assess periodontal (gum) health. The hygienist will clean your teeth to remove plaque and hardened food particles that contribute to gum disease. We’ll use our state-of-the-art ViziLite system to screen for oral cancer, a potentially deadly disease with an improved cure rate when caught in the early stage. Regular checkups and cleanings let us identify and treat problems before they create significant damage. With a strong, healthy smile, you’ll save time and money in the long run and prevent future dental problems. Call our office today to schedule your comprehensive checkup and cleaning.
